The Tao of Jax – Training – The Real Mystery

Why does my dog chase after cars?

Why does my dog chew my couch every time I leave?

Why does my dog eat his own poop? – Answer here!

I hear these questions a lot. Without trying to sound too philosophical, I offer this simple and very true answer…

The reason is because you ask the question!

For many dog owners (especially first time owners) your dog’s behavior is all based on what “tricks” the dog can perform upon command.

Sit

Stay

Roll Over

High Five

Other Paw

Sound familiar? I’m not saying this is wrong… if it works for you and your lifestyle, by all means, continue. This will develop a very reactionary dog who will respond to your commands – as long as he knows the command you’re asking of him/her.

But, if you’re looking for a deeper connection with your dog, where commands are unnecessary due to the relationship and deep understanding that you share with your dog, perhaps a whole different approach is necessary.

Instead of trying to “force” actions by your dog, take a step back and allow your dog to just be. Don’t try to make it work – simply allow. For many of you this concept may be completely foreign and therefor frightening. Dogs are hardwired with hundreds or even thousands of years of instinct which tells them how to act in certain situations. So if you try to push your dog to do something it doesn’t naturally want to do, you have all those years pushing back. If you allow a dog to act in it’s natural state, and become a conscious and quiet observer, you will understand what motivates the dog, making it easier to work with him/her.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALLOWING AND WANTING

Most people think they’re allowing they’re dog to be; when they’re actually wanting them to be. Wayne Dyer explains this difference perfectly in his book, “Change your Thoughts, Change your Life“:

Think of gardening and desiring those luscious homegrown tomatoes. Allowing them to grow is ultimately what happens. Now think about all of the things in life that involve wanting and how they differ from allowing: Wanting to go to sleep, for instance, rather than actually sleeping. Wanting to diet, rather than actually dieting. Wanting to love, rather than loving.

Jax’s Yak Back

(Jax’s advice for Us Humans)

It’s not just us… Of course this can be applied to you humans too… What are you wasting your time wanting when you can just lay in the sun, relax and allow. Scott and I will show you some simple ways to work with your dog and develop natural behaviors in both you and your dog. If you ALLOW it, your dog can be your greatest teacher!

I am imagination. I can see what the eyes cannot see. I can hear what the ears cannot hear. I can feel what the heart cannot feel.

Managing Talent – Paul Hendricks – The American Misfit and Outlaw

I was so fortunate to have met so many talented people who inspired me to get into talent management. A good number of those introductions have come over the last 12 months.  One such meeting was a gentleman named Paul Hendricks. He is a very talented and charismatic guy who I hope to represent one day in the near future.

This guy has an amazing story! Check it out…

My first impression of Paul was, “what biker gang did this guy come from? And who did he rob to get here?!?!?” Sorry Paul!! :D

Paul is a larger-than-life character. His arms are covered in tattoos and he really does look like a biker. He is intimidating. But after hearing his voice for all of 20 seconds, you can tell he is a big teddy bear!

After getting to know Paul, he shared with me his story and his amazing journey to where he is today! I hope you don’t mind if I share it Paul….

I almost welled up listening to it.

In Paul’s words:

“I was so depressed with my life. I was a bad guy! I had no direction! I didn’t care about anyone or anything. My girlfriend had left me, but not only left me, she moved from the east coast to Hawaii! To Hawaii… Just to get away from me! That’s what I did!

I was so depressed that I decided that this was the end for me! I pulled out a bunch of blow and decided that if I was going to out, I was going to go out partying! This is the way I wanted to end it!

So I had it all spread out in front of me, I had started in on the destiny I felt fate had brought me to on that night, when I felt something on the back of my head. Something wet on my neck… I turned around and my dog was sitting there…. staring at me! I swear, he never opened his mouth… he said nothing, but I heard the words, “Who will take care of me now?”

Those words changed my life! I cleaned up my act, packed up myself and my dog, flew to Hawaii and started a whole different life for myself!”

First of all, thank you Paul for sharing your story with me! It’s a great story! I really appreciate how vulnerable you allow yourself to be and show that even people in the worst of situations… people who have dug such a rut in their lives that it more closely resembles a grave… these people have the choice to change their lives at any given point!

I have stared down at the bottom of a ravine from the wrong side of rails on a bridge. I know how difficult it is to live with yourself once you realize everything you hate about your life, you have brought on yourself. Just know that from this point on, everything becomes so much easier. There are people, like Paul, who share their message so that those who are struggling, see that they can make the change and become as big as they want to be! I was intimidated by Paul, initially, not because of his tattoos, not because he looks like a biker but because he IS LARGER THAN LIFE! His heart fills the room and then some because he knows what it feels like to be empty inside!

Paul loves to spread his story and speaks all across the country. Paul has written his first book in a three book series, so make sure you go to www.paulehendricks.com and check for availability.

I can’t wait to get my signed copy of:

“WAKE UP! The Enlightenment of an American Misfit and Outlaw”.

Paul, you are truly an inspiration!

Are you an actor, musician, writer or artist looking to share their talents with the world?

Scott Weller presents: Construction Site Hazards – Accident Investigation

An accident investigation is required whenever a serious accident happens on a construction job site to obtain accurate information about what has occurred.  Questions that should be answered include:

  • What events led up to the accident?
  • Who was involved in the work?
  • Did anyone fail to follow procedures?
  • Did a piece of material or equipment fail?

By bringing all of the facts together, we can learn from the accident and ensure no similar accidents occur in the future. Accident investigations should never be conducted to affix blame, they are to be learned from by everyone involved.

Get involved in accident investigation and take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes to reduce accidents all together. Obviously the best way to reduce accidents is by detecting unsafe conditions and hazards prior to any accident taking place. Keep your eyes open and watch each others back out there!

BLUE COLLAR BEGONE BACKTALK

Accidents happen! That’s human nature. Accept that and learn from it! Accident investigation is an important skill on your quest to a more fulfilling life. Take the time to investigate what went wrong and learn from it! In fact, the exact same questions from above can be applied to any circumstance where an investigation is required.

What events led up to the accident?

Who was involved in the work?

Did anyone fail to follow procedures?

Did a piece of material or equipment fail?

If a piece of material or equipment failure was the cause of the accident, take a blue pill and get back on that horse! Remember…. we are not here to place blame on anyone!
