I took some time to think about how far I have come in the last 24 months. It seems longer but, just 24 months ago, I was 15 feet below ground level, sweating my pants off, working a spade. I have been asked so many times how I managed to so dramatically change my life and what I came up with was these 6 simple steps for any ditch digger to climb out of the trench and enter the board room.
Decide you want more
Einstein once said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” If your still digging ditches after 10 years and you’ve always done the same thing day in and day out, how can you expect things to change? Be prepared to make changes, both minor and major changes. The changes required will correlate directly to the intensity of the changes you want to experience.
Plan to Succeed Daily
Every night before you go to bed, take some time to write down 6 goals for the following day. Come up with 2 easily accomplishable goals, 2 moderately challenging goals, and 2 difficult goals. This way, you will steadily gain momentum throughout the day and you will find the tasks that you once felt were difficult are now easy to accomplish.
Start the Day with Simple Successes to Gain Positive Momentum
Start your day by setting out to accomplish the simplest tasks for the day first, then move on and tackle the more difficult tasks as your day progresses. This gets your day going in the right direction and provides a boost of positive energy which will carry you through the more difficult tasks. A word of caution; Do not get caught up in the procrastination trap! Once you accomplish a task, take the time to revel in your accomplishment but move quickly onto the next task to build upon your daily success.
Surround yourself with those who are already doing it – GET A MENTOR
Bottom line – the quickest way from point A to point B is not a straight line, well… not the one that you draw anyway. Find a mentor or coach who has already experienced the ups and, more importantly, the downs and lean on them for advice and direction.
Become a Lifelong Student
Dedicate yourself to creating an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Keep learning new things, trying new experiences. This is not only how you grow but it is also how we can contribute to the growth of humanity.
Combine Spiritual, Mental and Physical Efforts in Everything You Do
We are spiritual beings in a physical experience. To accomplish anything you desire easily and frequently, you must be willing to take Physical action when prompted to do so, spend the time mentally preparing through visualization and lastly, you must be spiritually in tune with that which you desire. All three aspects, Spritual, Mental and Physical must be in harmony for anyone to manifest all which they desire.
